Providing the keys to success with drivers ed

According to Forbes, adding a newly licensed driver to an insurance policy can raise the premiums an average of 79 percent – unless you have a son, then expect around 92 percent higher price.
But many insurance companies offer discounts if the new driver has completed driver’s ed.
Marlon Gay and Chuck Murdock are hoping to help the parents of Stephens County with their new business Ace Driving Academy, which will have its first session this weekend.
The collaboration to open a driving school came about because several area schools, including Duncan, closed down their driver education programs. Murdock and Gay worked with Jackie Jacobi, business development specialist at Red River Technology Center, to develop the business plan.
“There is still a tremendous need for driver training, both from a safety point of view and also to keep insurance costs down for new drivers,” Gay said.
Duncan Public Schools have made it possible for the new commercial school to become a reality.
"Superintendent Melonie Hau has been instrumental in ensuring that Duncan students have access to a local driver education program. We appreciate Mrs. Hau and the Duncan Board of Education allowing us the opportunity to offer a certified driver training course to our area youth,” Murdock said.
